I help people to build their confidence - on a bike and in business.
I have more than 20 years experience in marketing, communicatons and journalism, first in the book publishing sector and then in the voluntary sector where posts included deputy editor of ThirdSector (the leading magazine for the voluntary sector) and head of publications at Arthritis Care. In 2000 I moved to Devon to take the post of head of fundraising and communications at Hospiscare.
In 2003 I went freelance as marketing and communications consultant, supporting large and small businesses and voluntary organisations in putting together marketing, communications and branding strategies and helping to implement them.
In 2007 I founded YouGen – an information website to help people wanting to install renewable energy or energy saving measures to get the most suitable products and find a good installer. YouGen is a market leader in independent advice for green consumers. It was particularly valuable in helping people negotiate the complexities of government subsidies for the industry. Under my leadership YouGen won Green Business of the Year in the 2013 Venus Awards in Devon and Nationally and Green Gamechanger at the International Green Awards 2012.
In 2017 Cathy I launched Bike Guide Devon, where I encourage more women to cycle off road, offering guided rides and weekends.
